Advise and advocate: FTA consistently advocates and promotes the principles of free and sustainable trade with key national, European and international interlocutors. FTA maintains a strong relationship with key European Union decision-makers and negotiators to help defend the interest of its members and to raise awareness about the implications of various regulations on European retailers and importers. FTA works closely with the World Trade Organisation and follows all relevant trade developments and negotiations. The WTO has recognised the importance of FTA, so the FTA attended every WTO Ministerial since the Uruguay Round.

Committees, seminars and workshops: FTA hosts focused, regular and ad-hoc committee meetings that allow members the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and officials, share best practices and develop coordinated lobbying strategies. At each committee meeting senior EU officials are invited to brief FTA members on the latest international trade developments.
